Upcoming Events at AGM
The American Guild of Music contests focus on the needs of the “everyday” music student. They are open to students of all ages and levels to motivate them in their musical studies. AGM Contests, are designed to nationally recognize your students with 3 months to twelve years of music study up to age 21. The contests are aimed at inspiring students to continue their music education, whether or not they intend on making music a career.
The actual number of contests vary from year to year. Regional Contests are planned for the East Coast, Southern States, Chicago Area, Western States and Mid America. If you are interested in having a competition in your area contact us. Regional Contests run from Friday evening through Sunday evening. Regional Contests have award presentations and no planned meal functions. The annual National Convention and Contest travels around the country and Canada. It generally follows a north, south, east and west pattern. It is a four day competition whic generally follows a Wednesday to Saturday pattern. The National Contest grand finale is a semi formal awards banquet which features performances by the top winners. There is a second awards program for test list solos, and duets the day prior. You do not have to qualify prior to the national contest to attend. There are special divisions that students must have qualified through a regional contest. However there is also a qualifiying round at the National Contest for those who never had the opportunity to attend a regional contest. The national contest has many educational functions which are held during the course of the convention. This competition is a prestigious event.
